SIOMA Town Council has handed over twelve sites to Contractors in readiness for commencement of the project construction.
The projects handed over are among the 2023 approved Community Projects under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
The projects include construction of a Police Post in Mutomena Ward which has been awarded to Habwe Enterprises at a total cost of K 462,200.00 and also the construction of a 1×3 classroom block at Zanino Primary School in Mutomena Ward at a total cost of K 538,090.00.
Others are construction of a Solar Powered Water Scheme at Lisheko Primary School and Sitoti Rural health Centre in Watembo Ward at a Cost of K400,000.00, Construction of a Maternity Annex and Staff House at Nalwashi Rural Health Centre and Mbopuma Rural Health Post in Nalwashi ward at a total cost of K 897,454.00
Speaking during the site handover, Sioma District Commissioner Mr. Mike Kamutumwa advised Contractors to deliver quality works within the stipulated period of time.
Mr. Kamutumwa advised contractors to execute works in accordance with the Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and use quality materials.
The District Commissioner further urged contractors to work with the Community Members and also pay them on time.
He said he does not want to hear complaints from the people who the Contractors will engage to help them in carrying out the works at the site.
Mr. Kamutumwa however, called on the local leadership to ensure that the people tasked to work with the contractors were of sober mind, skilled and of good character so that works were done on time and of good quality.
Meanwhile, the CDFC Chairperson Mr. Muhau Manyandelo advised Community Project representatives to be alert and always monitor the works.
Contractors have pledged to be compliant and work according to council’s expectations and ensure that works are completed within the stipulated period given to them.
