The Zambia Public Procurement Authority (ZPPA) held a pivotal engagement meeting with contractors and suppliers in Sioma to discuss the effective use of the Electronic Government Procurement (E-GP) system.
The session, aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public procurement, drew participants from various sectors eager to understand the platform’s features and benefits.
Speaking during the meeting, ZPPA Mr. Kauswe Sakala emphasized the importance of adopting digital tools to streamline procurement processes.
“The E-GP system is not just about automation; it is a transformative tool that ensures fair competition, reduces inefficiencies, and promotes good governance in public procurement,” he said.
Mr. Sakala employed the Contractors and supplier to review and improve their tenders when their fail as that would help them in the next bid.
He informed them that they should always check that their emails is the same as the information in the registration details
The engagement focused on key aspects of the E-GP system, including:
- Registration and Access: Step-by-step guidance on how contractors and suppliers can register and access the platform.
- Bidding Process: An overview of how bids can be submitted electronically, ensuring a secure and tamper-proof process.
- Compliance and Monitoring: Insights on how the system facilitates compliance with procurement regulations and enables real-time monitoring of transactions.
Participants were given hands-on demonstrations, allowing them to navigate the E-GP interface and explore its functionalities. The ZPPA team addressed common challenges faced by users and provided solutions to ensure seamless adoption of the platform.
Contractors and suppliers expressed their appreciation for the initiative, noting its potential to enhance their participation in public procurement opportunities. “This system will make it easier for us to compete fairly and avoid unnecessary delays,” said one participant.
The ZPPA reiterated its commitment to building capacity among stakeholders and ensuring equitable access to procurement opportunities across the country. The authority plans to extend similar engagements to other districts to promote nationwide adoption of the E-GP system.
The meeting in Sioma is part of ZPPA’s broader strategy to modernize public procurement processes and align with Zambia’s Vision 2030 development agenda.
