Sioma Member of Parliament, Hon. Kaliye Mandandi, has launched a comprehensive monitoring exercise to ensure that projects funded by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) adhere to the highest quality standards.
This initiative highlights the Sioma leadership’s commitment to delivering durable and impactful projects that benefit the community.
Hon. Mandandi was accompanied by key stakeholders, including Sioma Town Council Secretary Mrs. Chiti Nsama Mizinga, CDF Committee Chairperson Mr. Muhau, Acting Director of Finance Mr. Fredrick Musukwa, and Acting Director of Planning Mrs. Gertrude Chungu. Together, they conducted spot checks on various ongoing CDF projects, emphasizing timely delivery and strict adherence to quality standards.
“These projects belong to the people of Sioma, and it is our responsibility to ensure that contractors deliver work that is both high-quality and durable. The community deserves nothing less,” Hon. Mandandi stated during one of the inspections.
He also underscored the importance of accountability and efficiency in managing public resources.
The delegation visited several project sites, including:
- The construction of a 1×3 classroom block at Kandiana Primary School in Sioma Ward.
- The completion of a mortuary and installation of refrigeration at Nangweshi Mini Hospital.
- The construction of maternity annexes at Nangweshi Health Centre, Kaanja Health Centre and Sitoti Health Centre
- Construction of Solar Powered Water Scheme at Nalwashi Primary School
These visits assessed the progress of construction work, ensuring contractors were on-site and meeting agreed timelines. The inspections revealed mixed progress, with some projects nearing completion while others required intensified efforts to meet deadlines.
Mrs. Mizinga, the Town Council Secretary, echoed the MP’s sentiments: “Our role as custodians of these projects is to ensure that every kwacha spent translates into tangible benefits for the community. Spot checks are essential for maintaining transparency and ensuring contractors uphold their commitments.”
