THE Government has commissioned earth-moving machines worth K12, 352,418 under the 2024 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in Sioma District, marking a significant step toward infrastructure development and economic empowerment.
Western Province Minister Kapelwa Mbangweta reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to fostering robust socio-economic transformation for the benefit of every Zambian.
Minister Mbangweta commended the people of Sioma for their foresight in acquiring the earth-moving equipment, noting that it aligns seamlessly with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision of inclusive and sustainable development.
“This initiative reflects a collective determination to ensure that no one is left behind in our quest to build a prosperous and inclusive nation,” he stated.
He urged the Sioma Town Council to maximize the potential of the new equipment by prioritizing the rehabilitation of major township roads within the district.
At the same event, Minister Mbangweta handed over loan empowerment packages totaling K3, 338,000 to 59 beneficiaries across the district, further underscoring the Government’s dedication to grassroots economic growth.
Sioma Constituency Member of Parliament, Mr. Kaliye Mandandi, highlighted the importance of equitable resource distribution under President Hichilema’s administration.
“The earth-moving equipment, which includes a roller compactor, grader, tipper truck, and excavator, will significantly enhance Sioma’s capacity to improve road infrastructure, support agricultural activities, and address road maintenance and other developmental needs,” Mr. Mandandi explained.
He also emphasized the critical role of CDF loans in empowering individuals, groups, and small businesses by providing the financial resources needed to thrive.
Sioma Council Secretary, Mrs. Chiti Mizinga, reiterated President Hichilema’s commitment to leveraging the CDF as a tool for grassroots empowerment and development.
“The vision is clear: to bridge the gap between rural and urban areas by prioritizing infrastructure development, economic stimulation, and enhanced connectivity,” Mrs. Mizinga stated.
She added that the procurement of the earth-moving equipment and the distribution of loans are tangible demonstrations of the Government’s dedication to improving the livelihoods of citizens, particularly in rural areas like Sioma.
