THE ongoing drive to uplift the lives of people in Sioma District continues, with a focus on addressing long-standing challenges such as the lack of water in Mutomena Central.
Today marked the second day of project monitoring under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), led by the area Member of Parliament, Mr. Kaliye Mandandi, alongside Sioma Town Council Secretary Mrs. Chiti Mizinga, Acting Director of Planning Mrs. Gertrude Chungu, Acting Director of Finance Mr. Fredrick Musukwa, and Mr. Muhau, the CDFC Chairperson.
The team conducted spot checks on several transformative community projects, including:
- Mutomena’s first-ever solar-powered tap water reticulation scheme, a historic milestone in the 60 years since Zambia’s independence.
- A Rural health post Staff house at Sipangula of Mutomena ward
- 1×3 classroom blocks and staff houses in Sikabenga Ward and Mbume Ward.
The Member of Parliament expressed heartfelt gratitude to President Hakainde Hichilema for providing the resources that have made these projects a reality.
A resident of Mutomena shared her deep appreciation for the water reticulation scheme, emphasizing how it has addressed a critical challenge for the community. She thanked the Member of Parliament and the CDF for prioritizing access to clean water, which has been a struggle for decades.
She remarked, “The community is overwhelmed with joy. After sixty years, we now have tap water.”
These developments are a testament to the commitment of the leadership and the power of collaborative efforts to improve the lives of the people in Sioma District.
