Sioma Council Boosts Digital Power: Officers Trained in Web Content & Cybersecurity

SIOMA Town Council has continued strengthening its digital capacity as two key officers the Systems Analyst and the Public Relations Officer successfully undergoes an intensive training programme in Website Content Management and Cybersecurity at the Chalimbana Local Government Training Institute.

The five days training, which brought together ICT and communication officers from various local authorities, focused on enhancing website administration skills, strengthening online visibility, and equipping participants with essential cybersecurity knowledge to safeguard digital platforms against emerging cyber threats.

Speaking during a session at Chalimbana Local Government Training Institute (CLTI) Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) Director Information Communication Technology (ICT) Ms. Judith Beene expressed confidence that the new skills would significantly improve the Council’s ability to disseminate timely and accurate information to the public while ensuring the security and integrity of its online systems.

Ms. Beene noted that as local authorities increasingly adopt digital platforms for service delivery, strengthening cybersecurity and improving content management have become critical to protecting institutional data and maintaining public trust.

She emphasised the importance of empowering districts with digital skills, stating that improved ICT capacity at local level enhances transparency, boosts citizen engagement, and supports efficient service delivery.

The Officers have reaffirmed their commitment to digital transformation, noting that the newly acquired skills will be applied immediately to enhance the Council’s website, improve online communication, and reinforce cybersecurity measures across its systems.
